We know, it's like snow in late June in North Carolina. But it's true ...
HELL IS FREEZING OVER TODAY!
Greg and Samantha will take the plunge today. It's not just the first day of summer, it's the longest day of the year and our lives ... especially for Greg!
And we're having a big party after a small ceremony with family to celebrate. We hope you'll be there to join in the fun. We're blocking off South East Street in downtown Raleigh (where else?) in front of the All Saints Chapel, which will be fully restored to its earlier glory by the big day.
The threat of rain won't stop us! We have plenty of tents and of course, the inside of the church to keep us dry if it does rain.
The party starts at 6 p.m. and goes to 11 p.m. We'll have food from all three of the restaurants, as well as the new one opening later this year, a Lebanese restaurant called Siti. And there'll be plenty to drink, served up by some of your favorite downtown Raleigh bartenders.
So bring your dancing shoes (we have a band ... Crush!) and wear your summertime party clothes ... What does that mean? We're hearing anything from seersucker suits to polos and khakis. There's no need to wear a tie or jacket, especially if you don't like them! But if you feel like dressing up, by all means, please do. A lot of the ladies are telling us they're wearing dresses. Whatever you pick, just remember to dress for the weather! It'll be hot!
We can't wait to see you!
(If you forgot to RSVP by the deadline, no worries! Just send us an e-mail at samits2003@yahoo.com to let us know if you can make it!)
June 17, 2006 If you can't take Greg to the chapel, bring the chapel to him. This photo was taken the day the chapel was moved by my aunt, Betty Smith.
