There's plenty to do in downtown Raleigh, and most of it centers around eating and drinking.

But what can we say? We're biased. We love the restaurants that Greg's involved in.

Here's our version of a perfect Saturday ...

Get up, stroll down to The Morning Times coffee shop (morningtimes-raleigh.com) at 8 East Hargett Street. Read the paper, sip some coffee, share a bagel and fruit and catch up on the gossip with other downtowners.

(Or if we're feeling crazy, we'll head over to Mecca, 13 East Martin Street, for a Southern-style breakfast of bacon and eggs. It's not one of Greg's restaurants, but it's still a favorite!)

Then we'll cruise down to City Market (www.citymarketraleigh.com) to get some fruit and veggies at the farmer's market or stroll through the shops. Sometimes we hit one of the area museums (for history buffs, check out ncmuseumofhistory.org) or walk Amelia at the Capitol grounds, (www.ah.dcr.state.nc.us/sections/hs/capitol/stat_cap/default.htm)

When it comes to lunch, it's shrimp burgers at The Raleigh Times (www.raleightimesbar.com) at 14 East Hargett Street, another of Greg's restaurants. Yes, that's him in the picture in the far back of the restaurant. My, hasn't he ... grown?

If you linger long enough over all the photos and old newspaper front pages, you'll be just in time for a Bloody Mary and fried pickles for an afternoon snack.

But if it's a taste of eastern North Carolina you crave, walk a few blocks west to The Pit,
(www.thepit-raleigh.com) at 328 W. Davie Street, where authentic pit-cooked barbecue is being cooked as we speak. Enjoy the gourmet barbecue and sides with a few glasses of wine or beer.

If you're looking for more fun after the party, hit the Duck and Dumpling, 222 South Blount Street, (www.theduckanddumpling.com) for a French or chocolate satin martini. And if you're still hungry, The Raleigh Times serves food until 2 a.m.

But don't worry if you miss out on the food and drinks during the day. The chefs from all of the restaurants will be preparing special menus for the wedding celebration.

And as a bonus, there will be a preview of Siti, the new Lebanese restaurant that Greg's partnering in that will open in July.

So, maybe you should start your diet now?
